Environment
The Windmill Downs vision is to develop a residential estate that
- Creates minimal environmental impact,
- Demonstrates net environmental improvement,
- Delivers through design, social and economic gains.
Led by arguably Australia's most recognised urban designer, Gabrielle Morrish, Principal of GMU Design and Architecture, in collaboration with the project engineers Geolyse Pty Ltd, our team has embraced our vision to deliver our commitment.
Specifically we have addressed the following matters on Windmill Downs:
- Optimise solar orientation for the majority of the lots
- Incorporate sensitive natural features such as remnant forest, water courses and stony outcrops into our environment.
- Adopt water sensitive urban design principles in managing stormwater.
- Establish vegetation linkages and connectivity within open space.
- Recognise and integrate the site specific environment
- Prepare a Flora & Fauna management plan to enhance regional biodiversity
- Ensure no natural material is removed from the site.
- Provide extensive public open space and recreational facilities.
- Encourage pedestrian, cycling and equine movement
- Provide a range of lot sizes that enhance social connection.
- Incorporate environmental engineering that have produced economic gains.
- Re-use of wastewater for public area environmental benefit
